As a fourth-generation member of the U.S. military, I stand on the shoulders of giants who have served our nation with honor and distinction. My journey began with my great-great-grandfather, Zachary Taylor Brown, who served with his twin brother as an Aide-de-camp Officer during the Civil War, setting a precedent of duty and sacrifice. His son, my great-grandfather Solomon Brown, continued this legacy by joining the U.S. Army and rode with “Teddy’s Rough Riders”, furthering our family's commitment to national service. My grandfather, Steve S. Brown, proudly wore the Army uniform as well as contributing to law enforcement by becoming the 1st Black officer on the Charleston, WV city police force, instilling in our family a deep sense of patriotism and civic responsibility.
Now, as I have served and my son behind me, I carry forward not just my own dedication, but the accumulated wisdom, courage, and love of country that has been passed down through four generations. This rich heritage of service is both my honor and my inspiration as I contribute to the ongoing story of our nation's defense.
